Energy & Environmental Reviews

CoRDA has teamed up with Dalhousie University’s Eco-Efficiency Centre (EEC) to offer personalized and cost-effective environmental management strategies designed to help small to medium enterprises (SMEs) reduce energy and water consumption, chemical use and waste, and greenhouse gas emissions with your bottom line in mind. These reviews are modeled off of the EEC’s Sustainability Prosperity Program for SMEs. CoRDA’s Director of Sustainable Business will visit your business and work with you to develop a customized plan to identify efficiency opportunities throughout your facility.

Step One

: Filling in a pre-review survey The first step is a pre-review questionnaire to be completed by your organization. This questionnaire seeks to compile basic information about your office or facility, such as energy use, electricity consumption, and what you hope to achieve through the program. All information collected will remain confidential; it will be used simply to help us prepare for your review. Please upload a copy of the Pre-Review Questionnaire. Once you have completed the survey and resubmitted it to CoRDA , we will contact you to schedule your review.

Step Two

: Your customized review The review is a one- to two-hour walkthrough of your facilities by CoRDA’s Director of Sustainable Business where we can discuss your primary concerns, evaluate potential opportunities to enhance resource efficiency, and identify potential funding or incentive programs to help cover the costs of any investments.

Step Three

: Reviewing your report Within two weeks of your review, we will be sending you a Review Report. The report will list a number of strategies to conserve resources, reduce costs, and identify ways for you to promote your green initiatives to employees, customers, and suppliers. From this list, you may select the strategies that are most actionable for your organization, set targets and goals, and develop or update your company’s environmental policy. We will also discuss procedures for implementing retrofit programs or technology upgrades supported by public or private funding programs such that you may take advantage of any energy or water cost savings as quickly as possible.

Step four

: The follow-up visit Six months after your initial review, we will schedule a follow-up visit and/or conversation with you to review how your energy and water consumption, chemical use, and waste diversion has changed since our initial visit. This visit will determine which were the most effective strategies for your business, what unforeseen challenges hindered your efforts, and how we can help you continue to strengthen your resource efficiency in the long term. Once you have completed your follow-up visit, we will work with you to determine how we can promote your achievements.
