Good Day! The fifth annual Camp Courage will be held from July 4th until July 11th.  It is a free police, fire, paramedic camp that informs and educates young women about these non-traditional professions but most importantly inspires them to reach their potential.

They learn self defense, CSI stuff, medical stuff, put out fires, climb 100' ladders, repel and so much more.

We have had only four camps but already there are young women in paramedicine programs, policing programs and firefighting programs.

Also one camper has been hired as a career firefighter, 3 have been hired as volunteer firefighters and one has been hired as a paramedic.

Many of the graduates are still in high school and aspire to work in the emergency services.

A few quotes from the campers are below.

“Self respect, determination, guts, physical fitness…show myself they sky is the limit….taught me self strength. “                                                  Jocelyne Murphy 17

“ I now feel like I have a purpose and future goal and this camp has given me the tools to obtain them.  It has inspired me to take charge and make plans for my future.”  Katie Skinner, 18

“This was really the greatest week of my entire life.  It was just amazing.  I have received the motivation to pursue the career of my dreams.”                                              Rebecca Bessem 16

“I was inspired to be more excited about life and new things and overcoming my fears.”                            Erin Blackwood 17.
