KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Experience in use of portable machining equipment such as boring bars, portable mills, large mag base drills and portable lathes.
  • Work in customer’s facilities.
  • Operate conventional machining equipment such as lathes, mills, surface grinders.
  • Basic CNC Machining experience.
  • Ability to manufacture jigs and fixtures for onsite equipment.
  • Repair and build fixtures and jigs for production purposes.
  • Experience in working in large industrial settings.
  • Ability to deal directly with customer.
  • Familiar with mobilizing equipment and setting up job sites.
  • Mechanically inclined and ability to use basic tools and machinery.
  • Work in a safe and diligent manner, with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to make on the spot decisions.
  • Read and interpret blue prints, sketches, drawings, manuals specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces.
  • Verify dimensions of machined tools or parts for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as: micrometers, verniers, calipers, height gauges, depth micrometers; indicators, thread gauges, blank gauges and other specialized instruments.
  • Must provide own set of tools for machinist trade.
  • Maintain and repair onsite equipment as needed

 

JOB MEASUREMENTS:

Performance is subject to evaluation every six months by the Branch Manager. Evaluation will include aspects of work attitudes and attendance, quality and quantity of work completed, management skills, accomplishment of key performance indicators, and the above responsibilities.

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

Completion of high school is preferred and or post secondary education or equivalent experience.   Five years plus experience onsite machining. Journeyman status as Machinist. A valid driver’s license is required. Ability to obtain a passport as travelling is required.  Criminal background check is required.

FUNCTIONAL JOB ABILITIES:

  • Working conditions include frequent repetitive motion of hand and wrists including gripping, twisting, pulling, and pushing; frequent bending and twisting of torso.
  • Able to use hand tools including but not limited to wrenches, grinders, hammer etc.
  • Able to safely lift 50 lbs from floor level to waist level.
  • Able to stand for prolonged periods of time on various ground conditions (i.e. concrete, steel flooring).

  • Coordinate with IT      and operations teams to forecast and plan for resource capacity expansion      and budgeting.
  • Approve equipment      purchases and manage intake, installation and decommissioning.
  • Develop, implement      and manage maintenance plan schedules and processes.
  • Develop policies,      document processes, and provide training for IT, operations and      engineering staff on the use of data center facilities including access      control.
  • Ensure compliance      with regulations and directives of government regulatory agencies –      national and global.
  • Assist in vendor      selections, forge strong vendor relationships, and manage vendor service      level agreement performance.
  • Coordinate equipment      vendor access for site service calls and supervise vendor on site      activities.
  • 24x7 availability as      escalation point for data center facility issues.

Desired Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 7 years experience in a data centre environment, related project implementation and management.
Demonstrated competence in data center cooling, power, and data communications fundamentals.
Competence in Linux and Windows system administration preferred.
Bachelors degree in a relevant field – such as Computer Science or Management Information Systems, or an additional 5 years relevant professional experience preferred.
Expertise in data center documentation tools (rack drawings, etc.).

Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills.
