CoRDA’s Tony Richards and Stu Fairchild of the Debert Flight Centre fill up their first jet fuel customer at the Debert Airport on Tuesday, July 6th.  The inaugural customer was the NS Department of Natural Resources, but CoRDA will also market the fuel to corporate jets and other clients around the Atlantic Region who’ll be using the Debert Air Industrial Park.

The Colchester Regional Development Agency has entered into an agreement with the Truro Flying Club to provide a new jet-refueling service at the Debert Airport, just 10 minutes west of Truro.

As a result, pilots are now able to fill up their tanks at Debert, just in time for the summer flying season.  Debert’s first jet fuel sale was made today (July 6, 2010)

“The Flying Club is staffing the operation and we have secured the equipment needed to make it a success,” says Ron Smith, Acting Executive Director of the Colchester Regional Development Agency.  “This is an enhanced airport service for pilots who are responsible for corporate jets as well those who fly for pleasure.”

Smith is expressing confidence in the move, as CoRDA and its partners move to enhance services at a cost-competitive rate for Debert Airport flyers.

“With the addition of jet fuel we’ll be marketing Debert to an entirely new audience of flyers,” says Smith.  “Many of them will be corporate decision makers who are passengers, but many regional CEO’s actually fly their own planes. This is an added chance to show off the runway-adjacent lands and facilities we have for sale and for lease in the Debert area.”

Debert Flight Centre Manager Stu Fairchild says the new facilities mean Debert is now one of only 9 Nova Scotia airports to offer jet fuel service.
